I consider myself a #GNU Evangelist. Learning about what #FreeSoftware was, including GNU/Linux, opened my eyes to so many things: governments aren't the only ones stealing individual rights, I know so much less about computers than I thought I did, the idea of code, I can make a difference without having to know anyone particular.

I'm employed as contract Engineer in the Metal industry. My workplace is not yet unionized, but I'm hoping to fix that. #Union member of the #IWW IU440. I don't have an engineering degree. After discovering Free Software I took my political scientist butt and found a call center job that paid for me to go to Community College to study Software Engineering, where I learned that I liked the idea of coding a lot more than I liked coding. The blessings of God put some great opportunities in my lap at just the right time.

I'm a #Libertarian and have been for over 20 years. The love of libertarianism is what lead me to first to a BS in #political science and later to falling in love with Free Software. These days I lean toward the left side of the libertarian spectrum including being a member of the Libertarian #Socialist Caucus of the Libertarian Party (LSC-LP). Sometimes I call myself a #LibSoc.

I'm a huge #sports fan, but don't following any particular sport/team super closely. Lately I've been getting into #Cricket in addition to my other passions of Professional #Wrestling, Lower Division North American #Soccer, NHL & College #hockey, #baseball #olympics & #rugby (union and #RugbyLeauge). My whole life used to be American #Football, but now-a-days I can't stand it anymore than I can basketball.

I'm a #BornAgain #Christian, accepting #Jesus as my savior at age 9. Received #Believers Baptism at age 18. Received the baptism of the #HolySpirit as evident in speaking in #tougnes later that year. The #Spirit lead me to the #Catholic #Church at age 20 where I was confirmed at the Easter Vigil. I am a grateful believer in Jesus Christ in #recovery from lust. #XA #SA #CR Currently in the very early stages of discernment for joining the #Ecumenical order of #Fransicans (#OEF).

General Strike Now

A general strike is when all workers in given geographic region, industry, etc. refuse to work, in solidarity with other workers who are struggling. It is our greatest tool to achieve power over the boss class. The global economy came to a fault in 2020 when THEY sent US home for two weeks. How much more could we do if we where in charge?

Ursprünglich komme ich aus dem Erzgebirge und versuche, nach einem Spruch von dort zu leben, den leider viel zu wenige Erzgebirger kennen: »Ehrlich un racht, frei naus un net schlacht.« Auf Hochdeutsch in etwa: »Ehrlich und aufrecht, sagt seine Meinung, ist aber kein Drecksack«. Ich halte deswegen auch nichts vom sehr deutschen Ansatz, auf Probleme mit Ignoranz zu reagieren – oder nur nette Worte zu heucheln, anstatt hilfreiche Taten zu überlegen.
Meine große Leidenschaft ist die Fantasy – auch, da ich mich immer wieder in Kämpfe gegen innere oder auch äußere Dämonen begeben muss und über die Fantasy Inspiration finden kann, wie man gegen diese vorgeht. Das ist aber ziemlich unabhängig davon, ob das eher passiv in Form von Büchern (z.B. Scheibenwelt, Drachenlanze, und natürlich Drizzt Do'Urden) oder aktiver über Spiele (z.B. D&D, Magic: The Gathering, aber auch J-RPGs wie die von Falcom / Quintet oder Game Arts) geschieht. Und hey, wenn ich die Realität will, gehe ich auch gerne mal einfach vor die Tür gehen und erkunde die Gegend – auch wenn es zu selten Ereignisse gibt, die ich als magisch bezeichnen würde. Zudem dauert es enorm lange, die Dinge zum Besseren zu ändern – aber ich versuche es, wenn ich dazu etwas beitragen kann.
Daher poste ich u.A. zu anderen erfolgreichen Weltverbesserern, den Besonderheiten der Gegenden, wo ich war – und vor allem zu meinen Projekten mit reparierbarer Hardware & quelloffener Software. Kommentare dazu sind immer gerne gesehen, sofern sie übers Fediverse stattfinden – immerhin ist das einer der seltenen Bottom-Up-Ansätze im Internet. Ich boykottiere daher auch, wo es geht, das GAFAM-Oligopol – am besten, ihr kontaktiert mich hier, wenn ihr etwas dort findet, das von mir zu sein scheint. Sachen von dort dürften nämlich wahrscheinlich Fakes sein.
Ansonsten möchte ich gerne mehr echte (d.h. direkte) Demokratie in Gesellschaft und Wirtschaft sehen und wünsche mir in einer Welt zu leben, in der man sein Geld nicht mehr damit verdient, den Planeten zu zerstören oder Leute über den Tisch zu ziehen: Ich bin ich daher anti-hierarchisch und anti-obrigkeitlich eingestellt – bis dahin, dass Ich Siezen nicht für höflich halte. Immerhin ist der Zweck der 3. Person, ÜBER eine Person zu reden, aber doch nicht MIT ihr...
