@twm I believe this might be by design ( @mayel may correct me if I'm wrong). At this stage, signups are by invitation only, and IMHO, it makes sense that it is not possible to create an account simply by using ORCID's API.

I'm not so sure what to expect if the signup was open, though. Creating an account with your orcid number instead of using your email may be interesting, but I do not know if having an email would be better if you want to receive notifications (by the way, I don't receive any, which makes me wonder if we have the configured well the smpt server or bonfire is very respectful in that matter -I would not be surprised about this) or reset password.

What is really cool, though, is that you can definitely sign in with orcid, and how it populates some data into your profile.

#Bonfire has just released a new 1.0.5 version with several features such as more control in the way that servers federate or faster search. And guess what? We are already using it in this server!

Here's my first #feedback about groups: I wanted to add this group in recommended profiles' widget to encourage people joining, but this is not possible. I believe it may be because it is not a regular user?

Thanks @mayel for creating this group. It's a great idea to use this as a way to ensure that we have a place to gather all the potential feedback from piloting this server, comment on it, and eating our own dog food! 🎉

Now that everyone is (rightly) concerned about the heatwave, it's a good time to remind about the environmental costs of training and using #AI and how these items are not at all independent.

If we normalise AI, I'm afraid we will be normalising as well more and more heatwaves.
