@mayel I think the space would be easier to navigate if the UI facilitated understanding the connections between subjects and structures.
E.g. Reddit has a hierarchy for conversations, it would probably be interesting for subjects here.
@Kevin_Allain replies here also are nested 😊
What would you want this space to do differently?
How do you collaborate across departments/disciplines?
Where do you discuss your research at Warwick, and with whom?
How would you like to continue participating?
Today, I felt...
Most significant take-away
What was the most significant moment for you today, and why?
Who's missing?
Whose voices aren't in the room, and how could we reach them?
Ideas for next time
What should the next workshop do differently in how we work together?
What didn't work?
What got in the way: jargon, the tools, the format, time?
What worked
What helped you take part and have a say?
What are some ideas here that other research communities could try?
Where do your current tools and platforms let you down?
How do you find relevant projects and people?
How do you share what you're working on, from early ideas to data and results?
Bonfire co-design workshop: shaping an online research space at Warwick
What would online spaces look like if the people using them designed them? And what can we learn by researching it together as we go?
Join us on Wednesday 14 October, 3 to 5 pm, in REX 1 & 2 (Wolfson Exchange, Library) for an introduction to the fediverse and Bonfire, followed by a hands-on workshop to shape Warwick's space, study how co-design works while we do it, and help create better community spaces for everyone. No technical background needed.
The workshop will be facilitated by @mayel@bonfire.warwick.ac.uk from
@Bonfire@bonfire.cafe
Very excited to officially kickstart our @Bonfire@bonfire.cafe server at Warwick and to be able to codesign it with fellow researchers!
Hey @ccamara I can't reply directly to that post (because of a bug that's now fixed), but basically yeah recommended profiles is intended for recommended people to follow. For groups what you can do instead is pin them in the sidebar for all users.
@twm I believe this might be by design ( @mayel may correct me if I'm wrong). At this stage, signups are by invitation only, and IMHO, it makes sense that it is not possible to create an account simply by using ORCID's API.
I'm not so sure what to expect if the signup was open, though. Creating an account with your orcid number instead of using your email may be interesting, but I do not know if having an email would be better if you want to receive notifications (by the way, I don't receive any, which makes me wonder if we have the configured well the smpt server or bonfire is very respectful in that matter -I would not be surprised about this) or reset password.
What is really cool, though, is that you can definitely sign in with orcid, and how it populates some data into your profile.
