What would you want this space to do differently?
@mayel a digital community that gives me energy, like my real world communities (often I feel like the balance is off and they take more energy from me than they give)
@mayel the platform isn't as intuitive. but that's something that can potentially be learned. i just wonder if that learning curve could be a little bit of a deterrent to other potential users.../lh
@mayel I think the space would be easier to navigate if the UI facilitated understanding the connections between subjects and structures.
E.g. Reddit has a hierarchy for conversations, it would probably be interesting for subjects here.
@Kevin_Allain replies here also are nested 😊
@mayel Oh I can see that now. How about subjects? E.g. say you're interesting in visualisation, and then with a bigger focus on parallel coordinates, then by joining the conversation on parallel coordinates, I could have feed suggestions about the parallel coordinates but also about visualisation, even without subscribing to that subject?
@mayel: Would need some way to get the information on here that is a happy middle between bombarding me with notifications or make me log on to check
@mayel I wonder if it can bridge the formal "jargonised" to the informal "plain" language in the academia, while being the bridge between social media and a social academic network.
@mayel the bonfire should first do one thing really well.
@mayel I'd love to have a one-stop-shop space to find out who is working on similar issues across the university
@mayel If this space were to be used as a university based platform, it would be useful to have 'roles' or 'departments' attached to profiles, so that I can see where someone might sit in the institution.
@mayel to try and make the fediverse simpler 🙂
@mayel, maybe add a feature that enables configuring notification settings for a specific group (currently, the settings are applied at a 'global' level).
