This post should be scheduled at 11:20

I do not know what's worse from this: either the toxic culture at @protonprivacy@mastodon.social instilled by their CEO, the fact they are embracing #AI and relying on it for privacy criticall apps, or that they are relying in Claude and not their own tech and that does not inspire confidence either

Sharing a reading on AI and racism

social.openrightsgroup.org/u...

After an initial round to scope interest and shape direction on @CriticAI , the following stood out:

1. there's a lot to say on how #AI is used in #Academia / #HE and its short and long-term implications,
2. there's a willingness for people to share their thoughts and experience in a caring environment;
3. there's little clarity or consensus when it comes to the specifics.

To address these items, during the last weeks of October, I will be facilitating 2 online and independent meetings and an asynchronous "meeting" aimed at codesigning this community.

You can read more about the kick-off here: hackmd.io/CxwTbrIzR22OXdnVkO...

What are some ideas here that other research communities could try?

Where do your current tools and platforms let you down?

How do you find relevant projects and people?

How do you share what you're working on, from early ideas to data and results?

Amazing #scrollytelling about project dependencies based on the infamous XKCD stripe!

Very excited to officially kickstart our @Bonfire@bonfire.cafe server at Warwick and to be able to codesign it with fellow researchers!
