What worked
What helped you take part and have a say?
@mayel, I actually enjoy replying to these posts more than writing on the sticky notes (and I like sticky notes)! At the same time, it feels more individualistic than writing on sticky notes with someone else. This got me thinking: how could collaborative brainstorming be facilitated on this platform? (I wonder whether someone is uncomfortable writing from an identifiable account.)
What didn't work?
What got in the way: jargon, the tools, the format, time?
@mayel, it took a while to grasp the vocabulary (circles, groups, subgroups, topics, etc.). I think having a basic schema of relations between those entities would be helpful in the future.
Who's missing?
Whose voices aren't in the room, and how could we reach them?
@mayel, based on who's in the room today, I'd say PGT students and undergrads.
How do you share what you're working on, from early ideas to data and results?
@mayel, PhD supervision meetings, sometimes seminars or conferences. I don't share much about my research 😁
How do you find relevant projects and people?
@mayel, mailing lists, word of mouth, attending meetings and events, search engine, LinkedIn
Where do you discuss your research at Warwick, and with whom?
@mayel, I'm a PhD student, so: supervision meetings, CIM CAMPS and other seminars, conferences, workshops, etc. If I'm teaching, then it comes up in the classroom. My audience is limited to other researchers and students. I wonder whether this would help reach non-academic audiences?
How do you collaborate across departments/disciplines?
@mayel as a PhD student, my collaborations are often enabled by my supervisors. For example, I was invited to help organise the AI&Society Interdisciplinary Symposium as a research assistant.
